Peter Tanke, Principal of Xytech Systems Corporation and, executive vice president, responsible for overall product strategy at the company discusses the trends he expects to see at this year's NAB, as well as the solutions that Xytech Systems Corp. will showcase in Las Vegas.
DMN: What new products/solutions will Xytech Systems showcase at this year?s NAB?
Peter Tanke: At NAB 2007 Xytech Systems Corporation will reveal comprehensive file based media capabilities for Version 10 of its flagship software, Xytech Enterprise. These new capabilities enable the software to not only maintain metadata on both physical and digital media assets, but also support the marriage with digital assets workflows in a unified manner as well as allow for the integration with leading Digital Asset Management (DAM) vendors.
The Xytech Enterprise software provides a complete, end-to-end business workflow solution for the creation, management, scheduling, tracking, and delivery of physical and digital media assets. The software allows users to manage and track physical and file-based media content and related activities including media ordering; scheduling resources, crews, and rooms; tracking equipment; facilities management; bid and work order generation and management; purchasing; billing; quality control of media elements; content delivery; transmission order management; and the management of physical and digital library assets.
Version 10 offers support for file-based media assets with new digital asset capabilities that integrate with the MetaVault metadata library and Media Ordering modules. These new capabilities allow federated management of both physical and digital assets and visibility of such assets regardless of asset type and location. Users can now tie their digital assets and digital asset management (DAM) systems into their company's media operations with a common, unified workflow for projects, media jobs, and work orders that drive media requests, media orders, and media purchase orders. In addition, new Web services provide for integration of digital workflows with third party products and processes including ingestion, transcoding, watermarking, broadcast automation, DAM, and media delivery systems.
DMN: How has the mobile video and IPTV markets affected the digital media management solutions offered by the company? Does mobile TV open the doors to new markets for the company?
PT: The market's appetite for media content, fueled in part by mobile video and IPTV applications, requires content owners and distributors to gain more control over the management and distribution of their media assets. Xytech's integrated suite of media asset and workflow solutions offer an ideal response to these requirements, allowing all media, regardless of type and location (physical or digital) to be managed via a single user interface. This results in greater efficiencies and shorter time to market.
DMN: What trends do you expect to gain steam in the markets your company serves?
PT: The expansion of distribution channels and consumers for media content (mobile video, IPTV, etc.) will continue, resulting in an increase in the need for robust, integrated media asset and workflow solutions. Xytech's suite of applications are already being used by major broadcasters and studios to address these requirements, positioning Xytech as a market leader for such solutions for the expanding universe of content owners and distributors.
DMN: What is the must see product/solution that NAB attendees should see at the booth?
PT: Xytech?s Enterprise software Version 10 with:
- File Based Media (aka digital media) support, which has been added to the Xytech Enterprise MetaVault, Media Order, and Media Purchase Order modules.
- Expanded .Net Web Service based APIs which facilitates broader integration with external product, post production, DAM and MAM systems.
- Expanded resource management capabilities via the ?Shift Scheduling? option to the Xytech Enterprise Scheduling module. This is designed for facilities that managed crews and other labor resources on a working shift basis.
