PXC MEMBER PRODUCES HIT OUTDOOR PODCAST Tony Farley Produces BeautifulPlaces.tv By Ko Maruyama Veteran cameraman and avid outdoorsman and PixelCorps member, Tony Farley shares some of the great outdoors with some great HD footage in a podcast appropriately named "Beautiful Places".

It's fitting that he is educating us office and studio dwellers with these images of these wonderful locations because in addition to his work as a cameraman, editor and designer, Tony Farley is one of the creators of and teachers in San Leandro High School?s multimedia academy for students, SLAM, the San Leandro Academy for Multimedia.  In SLAM he teaches web production, digital animation, and special effects.  Outside SLAM he teaches physics and general science.

In May of this year, Farley embarked on a new adventure, combining his own love for nature and backpacking with his skills in multimedia and film.  Farley created BeautifulPlaces.tv, a site that features podcast episodes of a show that explores beautiful places in nature.

The show features Farley?s own backpacking trips where he also plays cameraman, director, host, and narrator.  Behind the scenes he is also editor and producer.

So far episodes have included trips to local California beautiful places in Yosemite, Big Sur, Redwood National Park, Muir Woods, Mt. Tamalpais and even the Golden Gate Bridge.  He has also done two episodes from The Rocky Mountains of Colorado.   The episodes are available in High or Standard Definition and run about 6 minutes long.  People can  become paid subscribers for $1 per month effectively donating to the show.  Donations help to fund the high cost of the show?s production wich includes gear, travel, food and gas.

This summer BeautifulPlaces.tv is has often ranked in the top of 50 of iTunes? top 100 podcast downloads, is often featured as a top pick among HD podcasts, and is frequently the top download in the ?Places and Travel? podcast category of iTunes? ?Society and Culture? section.
